To Begin:
- Tap Visual Field Fast icon to launch app.
- Select “NEW TEST” to begin vision testing.
New Test settings:
- New User -> Enter Name, ID. Existing User -> toggle “Existing User” and select.
- Select Eye to be tested – “Left eye” or “Right Eye“.
- Select pattern generation preference – if unsure, use default off.
- Select color-pair combination – if unsure, begin with Black-White.
- Use slider to set the frequency – to detect glaucoma, use 30Hz.
- Set the desired density – to detect glaucoma, use 2×2
- Click “NEXT”.
Performing the Test:
- Hold or place iPad in landscape orientation with the red square directly in front of the eye at the “Recommended Distance from eye“.
- Only look at the red square during the test with one eye. (close or cover the other eye)
- Look for areas in the surrounding screen that DO NOT flicker. These areas may be black, dim or cloudy. These are the abnormal areas.
- Circle those abnormal areas with your finger or stylus. Try to join up the beginning and end points. It is ok to overlap areas should it occur. Click “UNDO” if you wish to redo the last region of circling.
- When all non-flickering areas have been circled, click “DONE.
- Repeat for 3 further quadrants. The total area of vision tested is equal to 24 degrees.
Results
- Look at measurements. The area of the quadrant circled over total area of the quadrant is the Quadrant (“Q 1-4:” ) percentage and Total area circled over Total area tested is the “Total: ” percentage.
- The percentage reflects amount of abnormal areas.
- Click “SHARE” if desired.
- Click the “<-” back arrow at the top left corner to go back to main screen.
General iPad Settings
- Display & Brightness : Appearance should be “Light” (switch off Automatic)
- Accessibility, Auto-Brightness : “On” (was used for research conditions)
